Kareena Kapoor reveals Karisma Kapoor 'resurrected' Kapoor family name by becoming the first woman from family to enter films

Kareena Kapoor Khan discussed how her sister Karisma Kapoor blazed a trail for her in the industry, being the first woman from the Kapoor family to venture into films and restore their family’s reputation.


Kareena highlighted in an interview with The week that Karisma Kapoor revitalized their family’s standing in the industry. Following the death of their grandfather and with her father only having made the film “Henna,” Karisma emerged as the first female Kapoor to achieve sensational stardom.
Despite their uncle Rishi Kapoor’s success, Karisma’s breakthrough was pivotal during a period when no one else in the family was actively working in the industry.

There was a period when women from the Kapoor family did not pursue careers in showbiz, and those who married into the family stopped working.
