Filmmakers seem to have problems with sticking to the deadline as many of the big releases are getting rescheduled one after the other, especially in the South. Kalki 2898 AD, Indian 2, Kanguva, Thangalaan, and Raayan are some of the films that have undergone changes with respect to their release dates. Now, Pushpa The Rule also joins the list.

Rumors have been making the rounds of social media for the past week regarding the delay of Sukumar’s much-awaited action thriller. Fans eagerly awaiting the sequel were left in suspense until lead actor Allu Arjun made an official announcement that the film is getting delayed. On Monday evening, Allu Arjun took to his X handle to share the news along with a striking new poster of Pushpa 2: The Rule.

The poster showcases Allu Arjun in his iconic role as Pushpa Raj, holding a sword and donning a grey t-shirt layered with a brown shirt and a matching bandana. His caption confirmed the new release date: “#Pushpa2TheRule in cinemas from December 6th, 2024.”

In an official statement, Mythri Movie Makers, the production house of the film, has claimed that due to pending shooting schedules, the film is getting delayed. “We have been tirelessly working to complete the movie and release it on time. However, due to the remaining shoot and subsequent post-production work, we will not be releasing the film on August 15th, 2024.  This decision is made in the best interest of the film, the audience, and all stakeholders. Our goal is to provide a memorable experience on the big screen without compromising quality. The overwhelming response to our teaser and songs across all languages has been heartening, and we promise to deliver a film that you will truly love. Pushpa 2: The Rule will now be released worldwide on December 6th, 2024,” the statement read.

Originally slated for an August 15 release, Pushpa 2 was set to compete with Rohit Shetty’s Bollywood cop drama Singham Again, Nikkhil Advani’s action thriller Vedaa, Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein and Puri Jagannadh’s sci-fi action film Double iSmart. The change in release date could also be because of the huge number of releases on the Independence Day.
