We recently stumbled upon a clip from one of Pee Cee’s previous interviews where she revealed how she actually got into beauty pageants. In a conversation with James Cordon on the show, The Late Late Show With James Cordon, the global star discussed her early start with modelling and pageants and how her brother, Siddharth Chopra, schemed to get her out of her room so that he could live in it all alone. The host, James Cordon, asked Priyanka if it was true that she went to the Miss India competition because of her brother. Priyanka then narrated the whole incident, including how and why she got into the beauty pageant.
Priyanka Chopra said that her brother wanted her out of his room
Priyanka Chopra revealed that she was just 17 years old when she moved back to India from the United States. When she returned home, she was given a room of her own, the same one which her brother, Siddharth Chopra, used to live in. When the latter was kicked out of his room, he hatched a plan to get her out of that room. Priyanka revealed:
“Well, I was 17, and my brother was 10 years old, and I had just moved back from the U.S. I was in high school here to India, and unfortunately, there was just one room in which my brother was, and he was kicked out of because, you know, I was a teenager and I was a girl and I needed a room, and just to pacify him, they put him in a hallway with a little bed and pretended, like, oh my God, you have a full, open room! So, he schemed to get me out to have the house.”
Piyanka Chopra disclosed that this whole incident became a joke when she got called in for Miss India
Priyanka Chopra further disclosed that back then, she had taken a couple of photographs for some scholarship program. While the photographer took her pictures, he asked her to pose for more photos. Her brother, Siddharth, eventually, took those photos to their mother, Madhu Chopra, and explained to her why Priyanka was fit for the beauty pageant. The global actress further revealed:
“I had taken some of these, like, photographs, I was actually taking a picture for a scholarship program for some university in Australia. I remember I was applying to it and the photographer was like, ‘Can I take more pictures?’ And my teenage vanity was like, of course, sure. My brother saw those pictures and went up to my mother, there was a beauty pageant called Miss India advertised in this magazine, and he said, she’s five-seven, decent looking, she could be Miss India, go to Bombay and live there. That’d be great for her career. And my mom was like, ‘let me just send it in,’ and it was actually a joke when I got called in, and he got the room back.”

“My mother-in-law was like, ‘I remember watching you when you won.’ I was like, ‘There’s no way,’ and she was like, ‘I remember it so clearly because it was November, Nick was on some Broadway show at 7 years old, his brother was on some Broadway show at 8 or 9.
