Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have always been considered the most beautiful couple in Bollywood. After 8 years together, the couple has proven to the world the strong and sweet connection between them.
Abhishek and Aishwarya first met in 2000 while filming the Indian film Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke. At that time, Rai had just ended her relationship with actor Salman Khan, and Abhishek had just gone through a serious relationship with actress Karisma Kapoor. With the wounds of the past still lingering, they only saw each other as colleagues.
It was not until 2005 that the hearts of the handsome couple began to flutter when they participated in the photoshoot for the theme song of the movie Bunty Aur Babli. In 2007, right after the premiere of Guru in Toronto, Rai was proposed to by the man of her life. She immediately accepted without hesitation. “During my filming days in New York, I stood on a balcony in a hotel and wished that Rai would one day be my wife. A year later, I did that wonderful thing on another balcony,” Abhishek confided.
On January 14, 2007, the two held an engagement ceremony at Rai’s house, marking the beginning of their sweet love story.
However, Aishwarya Rai’s journey to marriage was not entirely smooth. Despite being the most beautiful woman in the world, she still had to suffer injustice due to the strange customs of India, including the Kumbh Vivah custom. Accordingly, the Miss World was said to have “mangal dosh” (husband-killing fate) and would endanger her husband’s life. The beauty had to wear a bridal gown, kneel down and marry a tree to gain the groom’s family’s approval.
Another big problem for them happened when a girl named Jhanvi Kapoor cut her wrists outside Abhishek’s house just before the wedding. When she was taken to the hospital, she claimed that she had been a dancer in a music video starring Abhishek Bachchan. He had promised to marry her, but then betrayed her. However, the investigation later showed that this was just a play that she “created” to attract public attention.
After many ups and downs, finally, on April 20, 2007, the most anticipated wedding in India was held. Groom Abhishek rode a white horse, bride Aishwarya looked sweet and beautiful in a traditional cream-yellow sari. Fans crowded all the way to the wedding venue to congratulate the perfect Bollywood couple.
Currently, after 8 years together, Abhishek and Aishwarya’s family has a 4-year-old member – a beautiful and cute baby girl named Aaradhya.
