The tournament is in the limelight for all the controversial reasons. Pakistan has been given the official hosting rights for this tournament. However, given the policy of the Indian Government, India is not set to travel to Pakistan to play in the tournament. The demand for BCCI is a hybrid model in which India’s matches will be played in Sri Lanka or in UAE. The Asia Cup 2023 was also held in the same way.

However, the PCB does not want to bend down, this time around. All the attention was directed at the ICC meeting that was set to happen in Colombo. Everyone expected that the issue regarding the Champions Trophy will be raised by both sides. However, Sahil Malhotra from News18, reports that there was no discussion around the Champions Trophy 2025 in the ICC annual meeting at Colombo. The matter wasn’t part of the agenda in the 4 day meeting.
The PCB has already released their tentative schedule with India’s matches and the final to be held in Lahore. However, the Indian Cricket Team is yet to receive permission from the Indian Government regarding travelling to Pakistan for the mega event.
