Recently, in a Q and A session at an event, Shah Rukh Khan mentioned he wants his kids to be humble and his wife, Gauri, maintains normalcy at home.

Shah Rukh Khan was recently awarded the Pardo Alla Carriera at the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland on August 10, 2024. The next day, he sat down for a Q and A session at the event and shared some insights from his life and career. Shah Rukh Khan shared people often think his family has a ‘rockstar’ lifestyle since he is a star. But he, his wife and their kids are like any other normal family.

Shah Rukh added that he focuses on keeping things simple and normal. People often have different perceptions from the outside about him and his family, but they are not true. The Pathaan actor shared that he wants his kids, Aryan Khan, Suhana Khan, and AbRam, to become humble about the privileges they get. SRK credited his wife for maintaining a balance in the home with her wisdom. He was quoted as saying:

“Beyond my drop-dead gorgeous looks (grins) and stardom, we are a normal family. I know it looks alien and different from the outside. But I want my kids (Aryan Khan, Suhana Khan, AbRam) to be humble about their privileges. The wife (Gauri Khan) keeps the balance with her wisdom. At the core of it is simplicity. I’m just someone who found a way to spread happiness, so they support me.”

Shah Rukh Khan admits that he never understood stardom

Several celebs have often discussed SRK’s stardom and fan following. But in the conversation, when Shah Rukh was asked about how he manages stardom, the actor said he never understood it. Instead, he has always focused on giving joy to people with his work. In his words:

“I come from a background where if I touch people’s lives, there’s nothing more important. I’ve never understood stardom; I want to give them joy. I am like a monkey; I’ll do anything for you. When people like me for that, it makes me happy. Everyone has a life, but they take the time to love me. Stardom is just a byproduct of that, but it all has to do only with me and them.”

Although Shah Rukh said he never understood stardom, he added that he would always respect it. Further, the actor said he just tries to be himself on and off screen. Shah Rukh said:

“Stardom isn’t important; I respect it. I always say I wear it like a tee, not a tuxedo. I don’t need to understand or own it. The day I don’t spread joy, it won’t matter. I try not to be a star; I just try to be myself both on and off screen.”

In the same session, another person asked if he ever gets tired of acting after a long career of more than 30 years. However, Shah Rukh said he understands he doesn’t have the same scope as other talented actors. Yet he wants to keep working because acting keeps him happy. The actor shared that he focuses on bringing joy to audiences through his work.
