Shah Rukh Khan’s television career
Khan’s television career extended beyond hosting. The actor got his first breakthrough in Lekh Tandon’s ‘Dil Dariya.’ In an old interview, Tandon had shared how Shah Rukh got the role. “When I was making my television serial, ‘Dil Darya’, I had left a message at Sushma Seth’s home that I would like to work with her daughter, Divya. Divya Seth got down from her car and the driver was her friend, Shah Rukh Khan. He dropped her off and was leaving when I asked her to call him back. When he arrived, I told him that if he cuts his hair, I would give him work in my serial,” he had said.
Though he got his first break in Dil Dariya, the iconic series Fauji aired before it, making it SRK’s debut show. He then went on to work in popular shows like Aziz Mirza’s Circus and Mani Kaul’s thought-provoking miniseries Idiot. He also made notable appearances in Umeed and Wagle Ki Duniya, showcasing his versatility as an actor. Interestingly, Khan even ventured into English-language cinema with the film In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones.
