KKR owner and bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan shared a warm hug with departing team mentor Gautam Gambhir during the Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant wedding in Mumbai after the former opener took the India coach job. Gambhir had masterminded KKR’s IPL 2024 title triumph as he had returned to the franchise this year. The former opener would then leave his post as the mentor of the team to take the India job.

Gambhir was officially confirmed as the successor to Rahul Dravid on July 10 and his first assignment will be the tour of Sri Lanka, which will start on July 27. Shah Rukh and Gambhir were amongst the guests for the Anant-Radhika wedding in the past few days in Mumbai and now a video of the interaction between both men have gone viral.

Gambhir had always been vocal about how Shah Rukh had always been supportive of him during his time with KKR both as a player and mentor.

Gambhir’s message to Team India

Gambhir had a strong message after taking the job and said that if a player is in good form then he should go ahead and play in all three formats of the game.

“Look professional cricketers, you got a very small span. When you are playing for your country you want to play as much as you can. When you are in very good form, go ahead and play all the three formats,” said Gambhir.

The financial details of Gambhir’s appointment is yet to be sorted as the former opener is now focused on sorting out his backroom staff.
