Australia women’s team captain Alyssa Healy ranked Virat Kohli fourth in the ‘fab 4’ list, behind Steve Smith, Joe Root, and Kane Williamson. Healy acknowledged Kohli’s prowess in white-ball cricket but noted his decline in Test performance since 2020.

She praised Williamson for carrying the New Zealand team and highlighted that other Indian players like Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul also contribute significantly.

Australia women’s team captain Alyssa Healy placed senior India batter Virat Kohli on the bottom of the ‘Fab four’ list that includes Australia’s Steve Smith, England’s Joe Root and New Zealand’s Kane Willamson. Healy’s statement on the LiSTNR podcast sparked a debate among social media users.

Healy said that Kohli was undoubtedly the top white-ball batter but had not lived up to the expectations in Test cricket after the prime from 2016-2019. The 35-year-old has not been at his best in the longest format since 2020, scoring only two hundreds and averaging in the early 30s.

“They’re all very great. But if I’m purely basing it on numbers, I’m going to put Kohli as fourth. But I actually rate him as No. 1 in everything else. But if you’re basing it on numbers, Kohli is going to sit fourth for me. I’m looking at it analytically,” Healy said.

Virat Kohli in Tests

The Indian batter has been surpassed by Root, Smith and Williamson in the most Test runs and centuries list. He was at the top at the start of the decade. He currently has 8848 runs in 113 Tests at an average of 49.1 and has smashed 29 tons. He has played just a solitary red ball match at the start of this year. He will feature in the upcoming 10 Tests against Bangladesh, New Zealand and Australia.

Alyssa Healy’s top ‘Fab four’ batter

Meanwhile, Healy ranked former New Zealand captain Williamson at the top of the ‘Fab four’ list. “Williamson has carried the whole New Zealand team, whereas for Virat, he is the greatest player in the world, let’s be real. But with him, it’s like someone else is always there. Rohit Sharma can score hundreds. KL Rahul can score a 100,” Healy said.
