Ahead of the start of IPL 2024, Dhoni relinquished his post as captain of Chennai Super Kings and handed it over to Ruturaj Gaikwad. There were rumors that this was going to be his last IPL season.

The Only Condition In Which MS Dhoni Will Play In IPL 2025
If BCCI allows franchises to retain 5 to 6 players, then MS Dhoni can be a part of IPL 2025. In 2018, BCCI allowed retentions of 5 players and in IPL 2022, only 4 players were allowed. However, he is not going to be the first choice retention for CSK. However, CSK will definitely retain him and will use him as the third or fourth choice retention. Now, it remains to be seen what finally happens in the meeting between the IPL franchises and BCCI.
