Rohit Sharma will lead the team, and Virat Kohli has agreed to play. KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer have been recalled.

Earlier, there were reports of Virat and Rohit skipping the games. Still, the new head coach, Gautam Gambhir, urged the two-star players to make themselves available as there are hardly a few ODIs lined up before the Champions Trophy in 2025.

Rohit has been playing continuously for the last few months. The veteran went on a break after the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. He wanted to extend his leave before Gambhir intervened.

On the other hand, Kohli didn’t play in the five-Test series against England to be with his wife, Anushka Sharma, who gave birth to their second child, Akaay. Kihli returned to play for RCB in IPL 2024 and then took part in the World Cup in the West Indies and the United States of America.

Jasprit Bumrah is the only senior player whose leaves have been approved, and he will take no part against Sri Lanka.
