Pant played all the games in the T20 World Cup 2024 and batted at number 3. He can move to the Chepauk for IPL 2025. A source from CSK camp has stated that the team will want to buy a star wicket-keeper batter in order to replace MS Dhoni, if he calls curtains to his IPL career. Dhoni has been struggling with his knee injury and may not probably play in the next edition of the IPL. The team will definitely need a quality wicket-keeper to replace one of the greats of the game. There is no better Indian contender apart from Pant.

Pant suffered a serious near fatal car crash in December 2022. He had to be out of cricket for an extended period time and hence missed IPL 2023. Pant made his comeback through IPL 2024. He has not looked in full rhythm. However, given his age and the potential that he has, he could be the mainstay for the CSK team for years to come.
