Virat Kohli Has Changed With Fame And Power: Amit Mishra

India veteran leg spinner, Amit Mishra, has talked about the nature and behaviour of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli who have gone on to become the backbone of the Indian Cricket Team over the last decade. Both these players have also led the Indian Cricket Team. Kohli was the former captain and Rohit Sharma is currently leading the team in two formats.

Both of them have won a number of trophies with the Indian cricket Team. Recently, Kohli and Sharma won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. After the final, both of them announced their retirement from the shortest format of the game together. Although both of them have achieved a similar greatness, popularity and stardom, Mishra highlighted the differences between the behaviour of the two stalwarts.

While talking of Rohit Sharma, Mishra stated that he has been the same since the early days of his cricket career and he also enjoys a lovely bond with the current Indian Cricket Team skipper. Moreover, he stated that he still keeps on joking with Rohit Sharma who reciprocates in the same way despite winning so many trophies and achieving greatness.

However, while talking about Virat Kohli, Mishra stated that there has been starc differences in his personality over the years after achieving greatness and becoming a star. He stated that although Kohli is respectful during the interaction, their bond has gone downhill as time progressed.

“I won’t lie. As a cricketer, I respect him a lot, but I don’t share the same equation with him as I used to. Why does Virat have less friends? His and Rohit’s natures are different. I’ll tell you the best thing about Rohit. When I met him the first day and when I meet him today, he is the same person. So will you relate to him more or with someone who changes according to situation?” Mishra said.

“I have seen Virat change a lot. We had almost stopped talking. When you get fame and power, they think people are reaching out to them for a purpose. I was never one of those. I have known Cheeku since the time he was 14, when he used to eat Samosas, when he needed Pizza every night. But there is a huge difference in the Cheeku I knew and Virat Kohli, the captain. Whenever he meets me, he is very respectful, but it’s obviously not the same anymore,” Mishra added.
