India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal made a terrific return to T20I cricket, scoring a blistering 93* against Zimbabwe in the fourth match of the series. Jaiswal, who had joined the squad in Zimbabwe after being part of the victorious T20I World Cup winning team in the West Indies, had scored 36 in the previous game.

Jaiswal couldn't complete his century in the 4th T20I on Saturday.

Gill’s decision to end the game before Jaiswal could reach his century drew widespread criticism

However, he went one step further in the subsequent match, playing a superb innings to lead India to a 10-wicket victory. Despite looking set for his maiden T20I hundred, the southpaw missed out on the milestone, with captain Shubman Gill guiding the team to the finish line.

Gill’s decision to end the game before Jaiswal could reach his century drew widespread criticism, but the young left-arm batter remained unfazed. In fact, Jaiswal disclosed that his sole discussion with the captain was about how to swiftly conclude the match and secure a 10-wicket victory.

“It was an incredible experience playing alongside Shubman. As always, I felt immense pride representing India. Our sole focus was on finishing the game with a victory for the team. We wanted to register the win without losing wickets,” stated Jaiswal.

“As part of the champion Indian team, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the process. I learned a great deal, and was eager to make the most of every opportunity, always striving to contribute and secure victories for my team,” he added.

Despite not playing any domestic cricket during that period, Jaiswal, along with some of his fellow Indian teammates, emphasized the importance of reconnecting with their roots.

“Participating in domestic matches offers numerous advantages. These local games provide valuable preparation and allow us to hone our skills before important competitions. We greatly enjoy the opportunity to compete in those games as well,” he continued.
