Superstar Aamir Khan is a perfectionist actor, but how is he as a lover? “Intense,” he said in a throwback interview of Rendezvous with Simi Garewal, where he revealed that he once shaved his head off after the girl he was in love with left him. During one episode of the popular talk show of the 90s, Aamir was asked if he had shaved off his head for the 1984 Ketan Mehta directorial Holi. Aamir said he had indeed shaved his head, but over a break-up and not for a film.

“A lot of people think I shaved my head for the film, when in fact I shaved my head for some other reason all together. I lost a girl I loved; one day she told me she didn’t love me so as a reaction I went and shaved my head off,” Aamir said on the episode which aired in 1999. Introspecting about his act, Aamir Khan laughed and added, “It was quite a childish and immature thing to do but that’s what I did. So when I met Ketan for the film, he asked me, ‘Where’s your hair?!’ I told him ‘Gone with the girl!’”

When noted that he was an intense lover, Aamir said, “Ya I guess so. Sounds like it! She rejected me, we were in a relationship for a fair amount of time. If she felt she didn’t love me or valued me, it was something that I completely respect and till today I respect that decision of hers,” he added.

The actor had confessed that he once wrote a love letter in blood to Reena, who was quite upset with him after this. “I was appropriately put in my place by her. She didn’t like it at all. She was quite upset with me.” When asked what made Aamir do that, he shared that it was his immature way of interpreting love.

“You know I was young and I thought that… I thought it’s a way to express the deep love that I have for her but today I feel that… I mean I hear of lot of kids doing that and I receive a lot of letters in blood and I think that it’s not a nice thing to do. You don’t need to do that to express your love for a person so I wouldn’t advice youngsters to do that.”

Aamir married Reena in 1986 and has two children with her, Junaid and daughter Ira. The couple divorced in 2002. Aamir then married filmmaker Kiran Rao in 2005 but the couple split in 2021.
