Axar Patel played a key role in Team India’s triumph in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.. He was instrumental with the bat and ball in the United States of America and the West Indies. The southpaw scored 47 runs and took a wicket against South Africa in the final.

“Rohit bhai told me to pad up when Rishabh Pant got out. Yuzvendra Chahal delivered Rahul Dravid’s message about my batting position.

“I had no idea as I was not aware about the pitch. When Pant and Suryakumar were dismissed, I was told to bat. Hardik had a word with me in Gujarati. I hit a four on the first ball and I started feeling confident.

“Virat Bhai guided me. He told me to hit the ball if it was in my zone. The communication with Virat helped me. The rest his history,” he said on Cricbuzz.
