Pant has got plenty of chances in the T20I format but has not reciprocated the trust with his performances. He has played 65 innings in T20Is and has an average of 23.21 with a strike rate of 127.46. This is dismal. He played all the games in the T20 World Cup that India won and did not perform as was expected from Pant.

On the other hand, Samson has really given his all in the few chances that he has got. He was also Man of the Match in the last T20I that he played against Zimbabwe. However, he was selected in the playing XI in the first T20I against Sri Lanka and Pant was again provided the opportunity. Pant faltered in this game yet again with his strike rate. He scored 49 runs off 33 balls but at one stage he was 24 off 26 balls. Fans on Twitter reacted to the innings of Rishabh Pant.
