BHUMI PEDNEKAR, SONAM BAJWA ENDORSE AISHWARYA RAI’S SUPREMACY AMID CONSTANT FLAK FOR WARDROBE, BODY-SHAMING
Aishwarya Rai has been constantly shamed by the media and the internet for not looking the way she used to. Her presence at the Ambani wedding was no different.
Over the past few years, Aishwarya Rai has faced relentless scrutiny from both the media and the internet regarding her wardrobe choices and she’s been body-shamed for not maintaining her former appearance. This criticism has resurfaced during her appearance at the wedding festivities of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. She attended the Shubh Vivah and Shubh Aashirwad ceremonies with her daughter Aaradhya Bachchan on Friday and Saturday at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.

An Indian-origin BBC journalist, Haroon Rashid, defended Aishwarya in a video he shared on his Instagram handle. He captioned the post, “This needed to be said… @aishwaryaraibachchan_arb is a Queen.” He also added the hashtags – Aishwarya Rai and Ambani wedding.
In the video, Haroon argues that “we need to start giving Aishwarya Rai her flowers.” Despite constant criticism for her sartorial choices, hair, makeup, and even her body, she’s continually proven herself as a “global superpower.” He mentioned an instance at the launch of the Nita and Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in Mumbai, where American model and TV personality Gigi Hadid shared a picture posing with Aishwarya. Similarly, actor and reality TV star Kim Kardashian shared a selfie with Aishwarya at the Shubh Aashirwad ceremony of Anant and Radhika, hailing her as a “queen” on her Instagram Stories.
Haroon highlighted that Aishwarya was the first actor to cross over and put India on the international map, being recognized by international celebrities who might not even know the language or much about Indian movies and other Indian celebrities. He emphasized that Aishwarya is a queen, and her stardom is undeniable.
Bollywood celebrities Bhumi Pednekar and Sonam Bajwa endorsed Haroon’s stance. Bhumi commented with a bow down emoji on his video, while Sonam expressed her gratitude, saying, “Thank you for saying this. (red heart emoji).”
Aishwarya’s international career first gained traction when her 2002 film Devdas premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. She went on to star in international projects like Bride and Prejudice, The Mistress of Spices, Provoked, The Last Legion, and The Pink Panther 2. Her most recent appearance was in Mani Ratnam’s Tamil period drama Ponniyin Selvan: II.
