In a thrilling encounter between the West Indies and South Africa, Shai Hope’s batting brilliance stole the limelight, particularly when he unleashed a cover drive that drew comparisons to Indian cricket legend Virat Kohli. The match saw Hope showcase a range of sublime shots, but it was one stroke in particular that had fans reminiscing about Kohli’s elegant technique.

As the West Indies faced a challenging South African attack, Proteas bowler Ottniel Baartman delivered a fuller-length ball outside the off-stump. Hope, showcasing impeccable timing and technique, moved forward and executed a breathtaking cover drive. The ball raced through the gap and went for a four. The shot immediately evoked memories of Virat Kohli’s signature stroke.

 

Shai Hope’s cover drive was a highlight in an innings that was otherwise marked by aggressive batting. He struck a total of four sixes, displaying his prowess in the shorter format of the game. His fiery knock saw him accumulate an unbeaten 42 runs off just 24 balls.

The Protea smashed three sixes and five fours to help his side post a respectable total. However, the target proved to be less for the Windies batters, who took just 9 overs to chase down in style.

Apart from Shai Hope, Nicholas Pooran and Shimron Hetmyer also contributed to West Indies’ innings with scores of 35 and 31 respectively. Romario Shepherd was named the Player of the Match for picking up two wickets in as many overs. Shai Hope took home the Player of the Series award for scoring 134 runs in total.
