Miley Cyrus is proving once again that she can laugh at herself after making light of her NYE wardrobe malfunction on Instagram.
TheThingsMiley Cyrus might just be the first person trending in the new year after she nearly lost her top while performing.
The We Can’t Stop singer did just that, skillfully recovering from the wardrobe malfunction without missing a beat.
It looks like Miley isn’t afraid to laugh off what might be one of the most memorable New Year’s Eve shows in recent memory.
Miley Cyrus Had A Little Malfunction During Her New Year’s Eve Party.
In case you missed it, it was just moments after midnight when the singer took to the stage to perform her hit Party in the USA for her NBC special Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party.
But Miley barely made it through the first line of the song when it looked like a strap on her silver top appeared to break.
Miley was left holding her top up with her hands, presumably while NBC execs held their breath.
But this wasn’t the Wrecking Ball vocalist’s first rodeo, and she handled it like a pro.
She even kept singing as she darted to the back of the stage for some help.
The Slide Away singer quickly slid back onto the stage in a red jacket she had worn earlier in the show.
Miley made light of the wardrobe malfunction quipping, “Everybody’s definitely looking at me now,” as she finished the song.
The Singer Laughed The Whole Snafu Off And ‘Rolled With The Punches.’
And now it looks like she’s laughing the whole thing off.
The singer shared a series of photos of the event including one where she was rocking the silver top before it broke, which she captioned “Get a good look at the top that didn’t stay on very long…”
She got some support in the comments from Mood singer, 24kgoldn, who commented, “Happens to the best of em.”
NBC, probably thankful for how professionally the singer handled the wardrobe mishap, took to the comments to post “welcome to Miami,” from their official account.
The event was, of course, filmed in Miami and co-hosted by Saturday Night Live alum Pete Davidson.
The show opened with Davidson and Cyrus rapping a parody of Will Smith’s Miami, and the duo performed a variety of songs and sketches over the night.
After Miley delivered the show-closing, Only With You, she told the crowd that pulling off the special was “all about flexibility.”
“We’ve all learned how to expect the unexpected, and rather than see it as a problem, let’s see it as an opportunity,” she continued.
And for Miley, it became an opportunity to once again show off her natural talent as a performer.
