Sri Lanka fast bowlers Matheesha Pathirana and Dilshan Madushanka will not feature in the three-game series against India, starting 2 August.
Sri Lanka’s injury woes in the ongoing bilateral series against India continue, as Pathirana and Madushanka have been ruled out of the ODI series.
Pathirana impressed in the preceding T20I series, with five wickets at an average of 11.6, but jarred his right shoulder while diving to take a catch in the third game. Left-arm pacer Dilshan Madushanka had featured in the T20I series opener against India but is now ruled out due to a Grade 2 hamstring injury he suffered during fielding practice.
The hosts have named uncapped right-arm pacers Mohamed Shiraz and Eshan Malinga as the replacements.
Apart from the two, Kusal Janith Perera, Pramod Madushan, and Jeffrey Vandersay have been added to the squad as standbys.
The islanders were rocked by injury concerns even before the India bilateral series began, with Dushmantha Chameera and Nuwan Thushara missing out. Chameera, who was ruled out due to bronchitis and respiratory infection, and Thushara, who broke his thumb, are also unavailable for the ODIs.
India won the T20I leg of the tour 3-0. All three ODIs will be played in Colombo from August 2-7
