Author-filmmaker Tahira Kashyap, who is married to actor Ayushmann Khurrana, is currently making headlines for her recently released ‘Sharmajee Ki Beti’ starring Sakshi Tanwar, Divya Dutta, and Saiyami Kher. While Tahira turned director now and is known for her incredible work even as a writer, initially, she was just recognised as Ayushmann’s wife and that used to bother her earlier.
During a recent interview with Midday, Tahira Kashyap shared that she used to be addressed as Ayushmann’s wife, Tahira, who directed a film, and this used to bother her. She questioned why people couldn’t see her for who she is, insisting she is Tahira Kashyap, not Tahira Khurrana or Mrs. Khurrana.
The director admitted that this used get her ‘worked up,’ but she realized it was part of her self-evolution. She has also evolved with time and learnt from it. Tahira explained that her insecurity at that time made her sensitive to how others addressed her. Now, she believes she needs to be confident enough that a random person’s way of addressing her doesn’t affect her at all.
The filmmaker emphasised that the wrong prefix ‘doesn’t define’ her and shouldn’t make her ‘feel bad’ about herself.
Tahira added that she has been in the process of developing herself. She explained that her self-improvement journey led her to a point where she takes pride in being recognised as Ayushmann’s wife or Viraj and Varushka’s mother because these are her cherished relationships. She roots for these people always and feels that her family is very important, noting that they are doing well in life. Tahira concluded by saying that she is okay with people addressing her in connection with her family or relatives.
For the unversed, Tahira Kashyap tied the knot with Ayushmann Khurrana in 2008. The couple has two kids, Viraaj and Varushka.
