A special court in Mumbai has found enough evidence to proceed with charges against six individuals arrested in connection with the firing incident outside actor Salman Khan’s residence. Special judge B.D. Shelke reviewed the chargesheet filed by Mumbai police, which outlines multiple charges against the accused, including attempted murder.

According to reports, the firing occurred in the early morning hours of April 14 while Salman Khan was asleep. In his statement, Khan described hearing what sounded like a firecracker before being informed by his police bodyguard that two people on a motorcycle had fired a weapon at the first-floor balcony of his Galaxy Apartment. The actor expressed his concern, noting previous threats and attempts to harm him and his family. He said, “I heard a cracker-like sound. Then, at around 4.55 am, the police bodyguard said that two people on a bike had fired from a weapon at the Galaxy Apartment’s first-floor balcony. There had been attempts to hurt me and my family prior to this as well. I have learnt that Lawrence Bishnoi has taken responsibility for the attack from social media. So, I believe that it is the Lawrence Bishnoi gang who have carried out the firing on my balcony.”

Salman Khan also mentioned learning that Lawrence Bishnoi and his brother, Anmol Bishnoi, had claimed responsibility for the attack through a post on Facebook.

The court stated that there is sufficient prima facie evidence to proceed against the accused under various charges, including sections 307 (attempt to murder), 34 (common intention), and 120 (B) (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code, along with provisions under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) and the Arms Act.

The six accused in the case are Vickykumar Gupta, Sagarkumar Pal, Sonukumar Bishnoi, Anujkumar Thapan (now deceased), Mohd Rafiq Choudhary, and Harpal Singh. Thapan reportedly died by suicide while in police custody. The remaining accused are currently in judicial custody. The court has issued a process against them.

The police have submitted a detailed 1,735-page chargesheet to the special MCOCA court, which includes various investigation documents, confessional statements, 22 panchanamas, and technical evidence, compiled in three volumes.

The incident, where two men on a motorcycle fired five rounds outside Salman Khan’s residence, had deeply shocked the actor’s fans and well-wishers. The Mumbai Police filed a chargesheet in the case on July 8, naming nine individuals, including gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Anmol Bishnoi, Lawrence’s brother who resides in Canada, also claimed responsibility for the incident.
