Prabhas Is Bigger Than SRK?

There is an ongoing debate about the biggest superstar in Indian cinema and there are two names that naturally pop up in this debate, based on the box office prospects. The two names are Shah Rukh Khan and Prabhas.

Now, there is a social media trend among the Bollywood audience, where a section of Bolly followers themselves are saying that Prabhas is a bigger deal than Shah Rukh Khan.

“Adipurush (-ve WOM ) earned 392cr which is still more than #Srk ‘s (Raees, dilwale, zero, jab harry met sejal, fan) & Salaar Clashed with Dunki and crossed Dunki at BO, and recently #KALKI2898AD‌ (Non-Holiday) crossed #Pathaan (corporate booking) lifetime fake collection in just 15 days”, a Bolly follower commented.

Going by the box office numbers, it is evident that Prabhas’s flops are doing more than SRK’s flops.

Even in a head-on clash between Salaar and Dunki, Prabhas emerged on top. One might argue that Salaar is a mass film and Dunki is a class film but we can’t expect stars to clash at the box office with like-for-like films just for compression purposes. So we have to take what’s in front of us.

Though SRK has two monsters in the form of Jawan and Pathan, both these films faced intense retorts about resorting to corporate bookings for hyping up the collections.

Numbers wise, SRK has two 1000 crore grossers, and same with Prabhas – Baahubali 2 and Kalki(as claimed by the makers). The thing is that Prabhas needed big event films to hit the mark while SRK did it with commercial films.

So for now, the debate on the biggest star in India continues. Perhaps the next superstar among these two would to hit the 1000 crore mark will successfully claim this title.
