However, there are times when their roles require them to focus on their weight and diet. Movies that show transformative journeys, sports stories, or biopics depicting age differences from young to old, showcase the dedication of these actors who commit to their roles.
These actors are often asked to gain and then lose weight for specific scenes with extreme diet. Although these scenes barely pass before your eyes, the actors put in months of hard work and diet. Here are the top three actors who gained weight and then drastically got fit in no time.
Aamir Khan in Dangal
Aamir Khan’s sports movie “Dangal” showcased two sides of the actor. In one part of the movie, he is super fit for his pro-wrestling days. However, later, his character quits and becomes an older father of three daughters. The actor had a noticeable belly, which was crucial for the role. It was reported that the “Dangal” actor weighed 97 kgs with 37 percent body fat. With consistent training, he then reached 9.6 percent body fat.
Aamir Khan once shared his diet routine while training for the movie. He said, “I ate 1500 calories per day. Plus, I used to work out for 7-8 hours a day. I used to trek on a mountain for 3-3.5 hours every day. Breakfast used to happen on the trek. Upon return, I used to have lunch at 12 pm. Then, two hours of rest time. At 2 pm, I used to weight train at the gym for one hour. Then, one hour of cardio exercises in the pool. I followed this up with 2 hours of cycling or tennis. I ended the day with walking for two hours. So, this routine of 7-8 hours of some form of exercise was my daily schedule in Arizona.”
Salman Khan in Sultan
Salman Khan has always remained fit in his movies. With proper abs and muscles, Salman Khan never fails to drop our jaws with his physique even at 58 years old. For the movie “Sultan,” the actor with strict diet also gained weight for the character. From 78 kgs, the actor gained weight to 90 kgs to 100 kgs.
Director Ali Abbas Zafar revealed, “Salman loves food, so he started eating a lot. He was eating three Magnum ice-creams a day, and he gained almost 100 kg. Then, I was ready to shoot his unfit scenes.”
Kartik Aaryan in Chandu Champion
Kartik Aaryan, in his latest movie “Chandu Champion,” instead of gaining weight, lost plenty of pounds to get into character. The actor was told before the movie, “You are famous for your hair; I’m going to need you to cut it. You are famous for your monologues, but your silences will speak louder than your monologues in this film. Also, you will have to go through unimaginable pain to transform your body.”
Despite the challenges, Kartik Aaryan agreed and was up for the challenge. The actor had a strict diet to get in shape and was asked to leave all his favorite dishes for a while. The actor managed to lose 18 kilos for “Chandu Champion.”
He revealed his diet in an interview that, “My routine dal, roti, sabzi [lentil curry, flatbread, and vegetable stir-fry] were all eliminated from my life. I had this one soup at night, and that soup was eaten for more than a year. There was no cheat meal on my birthday, Diwali, or Eid.”
