Junaid Khan reacts to comparison with his father Aamir Khan, and he explains that his superstar father would not have done a film like Maharaj.
Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan, who debuted in the controversial film Maharaj, said that his father would not have done such a film. Junaid made an impressive debut with Siddharth P Malhotra’s directorial. The film released on Netflix earned praise from the critics and the masses. To celebrate the film’s success, team Maharaj held a press conference, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony.
During the interaction, Junaid was asked if he felt the pressure of being compared to his father. Jr Khan took a few seconds, and then said, “Mujhe nahi lagta ki itna pressure tha. My family is very supportive, toh unki tarf se pressure nahi tha. My director, and producer were very supportive. I had fantastic co-stars to work with. Toh mujhe woh pressure kahi se feel nahi hua. In fact, I never thought about it.” Speaking about comparison with Aamir, Junaid joked that he would not have done the film, “I don’t think Maharaj is a kind-of role papa would go for now in any case (laughed).” The press conference was attended by Junaid, director Siddharth, Shalini Pandey, Sharvari, and Jaideep Ahlawat.
Yash Raj Films thanked the judiciary for lifting the ban on Maharaj
Yash Raj Films, the producer of Maharaj, which starred Aamir Khan’s son, Junaid Khan in his debut film, thanked the judiciary for lifting the interim stay at the film. Hours after the stay lifted, the producer issued a statement, clarifying their stand on the film.
On the social media handles, YRF shared a statement that reads, “Yash Raj Films has a 50-year-old legacy of championing India, its stories, its people, culture & heritage. We have never produced a film that has tarnished the reputation of our country or our countrymen. Hope you watch Maharaj and join us in saluting Karsandas.Thank You.”
The Gujarat High Court on June 21 lifted the interim stay to the release of Maharaj, debut film of Bollywood star Aamir Khan’s son Junaid, observing that there is nothing derogatory in the movie and it does not target the Pushtimarg sect as alleged. In her order on Friday, the judge noted that the movie has been certified by CBFC and it does not target the sect. Maharaj is currently streaming on Netflix.
