IPL 2025: KL Rahul Leaving Lucknow Super Giants For Royal Challengers Bangalore?
Stylish opening batter and Lucknow Super Giants captain, KL Rahul, is set to leave the franchise ahead of IPL 2025. As per reports, he will move to Royal Challengers Bangalore and take over as the captain from Faf du Plessis. Rahul was made the captain of LSG ahead of IPL 2022. That was the first season in the IPL for LSG. He captained the team from IPL 2022 to IPL 2024. However, he has had a fallout with the owner Sanjeev Goenka, after Goenka had an intense talk with Rahul on the field after LSG’s loss during IPL 2024.
Rahul is a Bengaluru native and he has also played for RCB earlier. Moreover, the Karnataka man has an ample experience of leading the side with his experience in Punjab Kings, Lucknow Super Giants and the Indian Cricket Team. There is set to be a mega auction ahead of IPL 2025. hence, RCB are looking for a younger and long time captain. Faf du Plessis is already 40 and at the fag end of his career. He took over from Virat Kohli ahead of IPL 2022, and led the team to the playoffs in all three seasons.
Meanwhile, Rahul gave an advice to Justin Langer ahead of the IPL 2024. Langer took over as the Head Coach of LSG ahead of IPL 2024. However, he was also in the running to become the Head Coach of the Indian Cricket Team.
