DETROIT – A popular social media influencer has given Eminem’s Mom’s Spaghetti what could be the worst food review he’s ever given any restaurant anywhere. He calls it trash and the worst spaghetti he’s ever had.
Rashad Mooreman, better known as Mr. Chimetime, has been making the rounds all over Metro Detroit over the last couple of months, posting food reviews of some popular and some not so well-known restaurants.
Mr. Chimetime has nearly one million followers on Facebook. Most of his food reviews each have hundreds of thousands of views. His Mom’s Spaghetti review has 1.2 million views and counting.
“This is by far the worst spaghetti that I have ever had in my entire life,” Mr. Chimetime said in his video review of the eatery in downtown Detroit.
Mom’s Spaghetti first started as a line from the Detroit Rapper’s hit 2002 song, “Lose Yourself.” In December 2017, Eminem opened a pop-up diner and shop at The Shelter in downtown Detroit. Then in September 2021, Mom’s Spaghetti stand opened adjacent to the Union Assembly restaurant along Woodward Avenue.
The walk-up stand is in partnership with Union Joints restaurant group, which owns Union Assembly, The Clarkston Union, Union Woodshop, Vinsetta Garage, Fenton Fire Hall, Honcho and more.
Mom’s Spaghetti isn’t meant to be fancy or gourmet. The sauce is intended to taste like a leftover sauce the first time around. “This isn’t a sauce that tastes like what your neighbor’s Italian grandma would spend all day simmering,” the description reads. “This is a clean take on a classic jar sauce, crafted in the straightest manner… honest… legit… not saddled with any nonsense.”
Mr. Chimetime says the sauce, which you can purchase online for $13 a jar (currently sold out), completely ruins the spaghetti.
“This bland sauce is ruining everything. This is bad. If you’re goal is for this to be bad, you have exceeded expectations because this is trash. It’s an epic fail.”
Overall, Mr. Chimetime gave Mom’s Spaghetti a zero out of 10 rating.
Mom’s Spaghetti stand serves spaghetti with or without meatballs and a S’ghetti Sandwich. The adjacent upstairs store, “The Trailer,” sells Mom’s Spaghetti merch, items from the Eminem retail collection and memorabilia from the Eminem archives.
